This is one of a series of posts on camping, where we go, and how we do it.
Hitchcock Nature Center is located about an hour from where we live, so it's a favorite place for a quick over-nighter. The RV camp area is located a good distance from the tent camping, so the tent camping is nice and quiet (assuming your fellow tent campers are quiet). Even the RV site only offers 18 pad sites, so the overall camping experience is pretty intimate.
The tent camping spots are located off of the road - so you can't drive up to your campsite - but it's an easy 2-5 minute walk to the campsite, depending on which site you choose. There are maybe 8 camp sites in the main tent camping area, plus another 5 hike-out primitive sites that are located in isolated spots along the various trails. Most of the camp sites are decently separated from each other, so you could go your entire trip without really interacting with other campers (though you can see them from your own site, they're arranged in such a way that
